Tree Trimming - Greg Lewis

June 18, 2009 - Updated: June 18, 2009

Now that everyone is out in the yard working, what better time to trim the trees! Homeowners should take a look around the property and evaluate your trees for risks. If any of your trees are leaning, or have overhanging branches that could cause damage to homes cars or garages, now is the time to take care of them. As summer kicks in the summer storms that bring wind and lightening are headed our way. Consider trees that may be on your neighbours' property and talk to your neighbour about cutting any potential dangerous trees or limbs.

Some of these projects can be done yourself, depending if you have a chainsaw or not. But never try and maintain anything above your skill or comfort level! If a problem tree has hydro wires near, or the sheer size of the tree poses a problem, call your local professionals. Sometimes your first call should be to hydro as they may pick up the cost for anything that jeopardizes hydro lines.

There is a timely article in the Toronto Star today, June 2 / 2010 A tree owned by the City of Toronto fell on Vada Kolish's home.. The head line, Home Owner left to mourn - and pay. Meaning she had to file a claim with her home owners insurance. Luckily it is only property damage.
