The last thing anybody wants to think about is having a house fire and losing all of your property and memories. Unfortunately if this does happen one of the most challenging tasks can be trying to determine all of the property you lost. At any time you may find it hard to list everything you own, let alone after a traumatic fire.
While we all hope we will never need to worry about this, here is an easy tip to help you remember everything you may need to replace. Grab a video camera and walk around your house one Saturday recording everything with commentary. Open drawers, go in closets and storage rooms, and make sure you visit the garage. Go through the tool box and out side sheds as well.
Now the real important part... give the tape/dvd etc to a trusted relative or friend for storage at their house, and ask them to send theirs to you. Simply watching this video after a loss will help you remember all your items and help your insurance company settle things faster too!
